Fashion Institute of Technology

FIT has always been an early adopter of new technology. Its partnership with Lectra helps continue this tradition. FIT has relied on Lectra’s solutions for fashion and textile design and development for over 20 years. The college has nearly 300 licenses each of Lectra’s full range of fashion design, pattern-making and marker-making solutions.

The Fashion Institute of Technology, a college of the State University of New York, has been a leader in career education in art, design, business, and technology for nearly 70 years. With a curriculum that provides a singular blend of hands-on, practical experience, classroom study, and a firm grounding in the liberal arts, FIT offers a wide range of outstanding programs, 46 degrees including Menswear and Fashion Merchandising Management, that are affordable and relevant to today’s rapidly changing industries.

Studying to be a fashion designer at FIT implies more than just developing creative vision. The college is committed to preparing students for both the business and design sides of the fashion industry, regardless of where they might envision themselves in the future.

Given this dual emphasis, Kaledo textile modules are ideal for FIT’s Fashion Design program, as they were developed to enable creativity within the constraints of production.

Associate professor of Knitwear Asta Skocir teaches all textile disciplines—prints, knits and wovens—as well as the specialized Lectra technology for each type of design. She insists that students be well-rounded when they graduate and enter the industry.
